Earlier this week I sent you an email discussing what I called “The Amazon Apocalypse” and how Amazon selling as we know it has completely changed over the past few months….
While the masses are struggling with these changes, it has secretly created a new blue ocean of unrealised opportunity in this multi-billion dollar industry….
This has called for a complete rethinking and reinvention of how we approach this business model.
I promised you I’d tell you the story of how I ranked one of the best selling and most competitive products on Amazon… of all-time… AFTER all these tough changes had come into play.
And today I’ll reveal to you how…. – this is a product with over 5,458 competing listings, tonnes of people with over 1k reviews and over 1.6 million keyword searches a month.
A first-class product in terms of demand and competition. This is as lucrative and as competitive as it gets. A true Amazon hall of fame product.
And we ranked for it on page 1 in 48 hours….
But first things first – why would I even intentionally seek out extremely competitive products in the first place?
“Product research” as we know it, is simply no longer the same.
With so many people engaging in private labelling – finding a product that isn’t infested with private labellers is now virtually impossible.
And when you do, it’s a freak accident, a fluke – not something that we can rely on and do consistently.
Plus after all, it won’t be long until all the private labellers dive in anyway.
This reality – in my opinion based on what I’ve seen across my businesses and the thousands of businesses that we work with on a daily basis as a industry leading software provider – means that we need to have a change in strategy.
The game is no longer about finding untapped products and ranking them – as such a thing no longer exists
The game is now about finding niches and products where we can build a good brand and there’s very high sales volume – and then battling it out with everyone to make it to the top and rank
The reason why I say this is because regardless of which product you choose in 2017 – you’re going to face serious competition.
And if you’re going to have to fight for it anyway, you might as well fight for something that’s worth fighting for in the first place.
Because it’s going to take the same intense time and energy regardless of what you choose to sell
Pick a fight that’s worth fighting, one with a much much bigger upside…
Now I’m not the only who thinks this… here’s a quote from Tom Bilyeu one of the founders of Quest Nutrition, a billion dollar food company.
“The only problem with your dream, is that it’s not nearly big enough. You need to push yourself and you need to think at scale. How do we make this big? How do we make it really a massive business? Don’t ever think about a business that can’t start with a B. Don’t get up in the morning for something that’s going to be 10 million dollars or 100 million dollars. Wake up and say how can I build a billion dollar business.
Why? Because it takes the same amount of energy as it does to build a million dollar business.”
The bottom line?
The extinction of the concept of uncompetitive products means that Amazon is no longer about finding untapped opportunities, we need to focus on becoming the best possible sellers we can be, the best possible marketers we can be.
We pick fights that are worth fighting, higher demand products that have great strong potential – and we fight and battle in the marketplace to make it to the top.
That’s what Amazon selling is today.
And it’s a world where the smartest marketer will win.
This all means that we need to become the best possible rankers in the industry…
When I realised this, I started to research and develop completely new methods of Amazon marketing – and by thinking outside the box, we were able to develop a completely new revolutionary system.
This is a new system of business that I’ll be telling you more about this Friday, so stay tuned to your email inbox then…
For now here’s the story of how we ranked one of the most competitive products in history in just 48 hours – to make this easy to understand I’m going to break it down into 3 core concepts
(1) AOV Maximisation
The number 1 success factor in Amazon ranking today is maximising the average order value – getting your customers to spend as much money as possible in their order.
The reason why is because the bottomline is Amazon just wants to make money. And if you make them money, they’ll give you the ranking so that you can make them even more money.
Everyone tries to do all these giveaways, but they’re making Amazon peanuts when they do that when you give your product for so cheap – that’s why they’re not effective anymore.
And when people do paid traffic the traditional way, they’re only producing standard $15 or $20 sales (whatever price the product sells for), and they lose money doing so because their paid traffic isn’t profitable – the biggest problem is that this simply doesn’t work because guess who else is producing $15 or $20 sales – the competition!
So why should doing the exact same thing give you a ranking boost? Exactly, it shouldn’t.
The solution to all of this is AOV maximisation – getting the customers to buy multiple units at once.
Create a landing page that gets all of your customers to buy 3 units instead of 1… and what happens?
– Average order value of $60 (3x what the competition are getting)
– You’re ranking at a profit because the margin from multiple units adds up, taking you into the green
– Amazon’s systems are built to favour units (why else do you think they call conversion rate, unit session percentage?) – so when your product is pushing multiple units, Amazon LOVES that and will give you huge rankings
– This is powerful. Getting eg. 20 people a day to buy 3 units, is moving 60 units a day during launch – that’s a big deal for ranking profitably.
– Your conversion rate will be huge because Amazon calculates conversion rate based on units purchased, so when you get a top heavy outcome like this, your conversion rate is monstrous and dominates the competition
All of this combines to make deploying AOV maximisation campaigns, incredibly incredibly effective.
You can also do alternatives where you get customers to buy 2 products – this has the same effect as the above, but it ranks 2 products at once and lands you frequently bought together.
This is a complete gamechanger, take the time to understand this properly.
(2) Search Find Buy
Once you have your product ranking on page 2-3 (or even page 1 and trying to get a higher spot), you can deploy the search find buy methodology to boost your rankings.
You see a major ranking factor that most people aren’t aware of, is something called CTR – clickthrough rate.
That’s the percentage of people who see you in the search results, and then click on you.
Amazon ranks the products that have a high clickthrough rate.
So in your landing page funnels, instead of having a direct link to your Amazon listing – give them a set of instructions (in text with pictures or even a video)
Something that tells them to Open Amazon.com in a new tab, search for X keyword, find us around page 2/3 (This is what we look like), then click on us and press add to cart etc.
By getting your traffic to purchase your product following this search find buy method – you will increase your rankings even more, because you will be increasing your Amazon Search Results CTR massively.
(3) Facebook Messenger Marketing
To get tonnes of reviews, you need to be able to ask for reviews.
Remember this always in business – you only get what you ask for. If you’re not asking people to do something, they’re not going to do it.
So if we work to maximise as many asks we’re making for reviews, the more we’re going to get.
The problem is that Amazon banned incentivised reviews, and then they reduced the effectiveness of feedback emails by introducing a global opt-out system.
But let me tell you something – even before all this, things weren’t great..
Because the average email only has a open rate of around 15% and clickthrough rate of 4%….. – this means that even before all these scary changes, things weren’t massively effective anyway, we just didn’t take notice
Absolutely we still need to carry on feedback emails – but we also need to understand that the email inbox is a hard place to get attention.
We need to make our asks somewhere else…. and where better than the Facebook Messenger Inbox?
You use Facebook messenger to speak to all your friends and family, you don’t email them!
And you love your customers just as much (if not more 😛 ) than your friends and family – so why don’t you treat them like your best friends?
Facebook Messenger is a much much more intimate communication channel between you and your customers.
And then with average open rates of 80% and clickthrough rates of 50% —-> your review requests are going to be getting A LOT of action.
The only thing is getting people into FB messenger, how do you do that?
– Package insert QR code that sends them to join your list
– Facebook messenger ads during launch to build messenger list
– Email append customer emails, run facebook retargeting ads to them
This is gamechanging – use these 3 core strategies in your business and you will see the difference and will crush it. This is what I’ve been working so hard on this past year.
Wow that was a lot of information! You may be feeling a tad overwhelmed at this point, and that’s perfectly okay…
Basically this means you have only 2 choices on where to go from here…
Choice 1: Take the information I just gave you, and try to go at this alone, putting all the puzzle pieces together without assistance…
And who knows? You may get lucky and one day see some progress, it will take longer of course and you’ll make a lot of mistakes
Or there’s the smarter choice: the one really savvy men and women take to speed up their progress toward Amazon victory…
This is the quickest, fastest and smartest way possible to achieve success on Amazon in 2017 without falling into all the struggles
Why got at this alone, when I’ve already done ALL the work for you?
There’s no need to scratch your head in frustration, guessing your way to “half way there”, because I’ve already perfected the IDEAL ranking and reviews system for you!
It’s a system that I’ve perfected and tested – for massive success on Amazon in 2017, achieving the best page 1 rankings and amassing tonnes of reviews – so that you can climb to the top and crush it.
What is this system?
It’s called RankBrain.
RankBrain consists of 2 components – the RankBrain software and the RankBrain training academy.
Since I first created Profit Phoenix, I always wanted to figure out how to create a ranking software.
And I’ve finally done it. Tested it. Perfected it.
And developed a all new methodology for reviews.
Details coming this Friday, stay tuned….
